Omaha Nebraska After the Blizzard
Omaha Nebraska After the Blizzard, or A Well Documented Car Ride to HyVee.
Admittedly, a trip to the grocery store seems like a strange thing to write about and post on the internet, but, after all, we had just gotten through a blizzard, and this was our first trip out in the snow on Omaha streets. We brought the camera, and Vicky took some nice pictures along the snowy Omaha streets.

Snow on Hamilton Street Looking Towards Northwest Radial
Where is all the traffic? This Omaha snow picture was taken at 10:25 a.m. on a Sunday morning, and there was not a whole lot of traffic, even on Hamilton Street.
This is where we were getting into the good quality streets, at least as far as winter driving is concerned. Still a bit slippery, but at least decently plowed. Much better then the street on our block.

Snow Bank at Northwest Radial and Saddle Creek
Have to watch out for traffic entering the streets from behind the snow banks. I'd rate 99% of the Omaha drivers as excellent drivers in the snow today. Yes, they were almost all doing well, except for one fool.
If this is you driving this white car, you got a thumbs up for your merging skills at this intersection. You were one of the excellent drivers, at least when you were in sight of us.
The fool is not pictured here, but I call that driver The Fool (actually I used a different descriptive term) for nosing out way too far into the street when planning on turning on to a main street. Fortunately I was driving slow enough that I was able to slow down and get around the front end of this vehicle that was jutting out a few feet too far into the street we were on.

Snow on Saddle Creek by Post Office
This is near Mama's Pizza on Saddle Creek, with the post office (out of sight) on the right.

Snow Bank at Stoplights
This intersection on Saddle Creek had a high bank of snow piled up next to this stoplight, and Vicky took this nice photo of it. At the moment, I have the full sized version of this photo as my desktop background.

Bakers Grocery Store on Saddle Creek
Peeking out from beyond this snow bank is the Baker's grocery store on Saddle Creek.

Well Plowed Omaha Residential Street
We were brave enough to take our normal route back from HyVee after shopping, and wished our street at home looked this nice. A note on HyVee: It did have quite a few people out doing their grocery shopping, so guess we weren't the only ones running low on food and needing to get out and replenish the pantry.

Home Safely With The Groceries
Home at last! Vicky was more than a little bit relieved to be back home again, as you can see from her expression in this picture.
